《maimai" is aSEGAan arcade music game developed by.

maimai is aSEGAdeveloped washing machine-shaped arcade rhythm game. Its primary gameplay involves performing corresponding actions by pressing buttons or touching the screen in sync with the rhythm of the music.
The first generation of maimai began operation in Japan on July 11, 2012. The game features various built-in songs with charts of different difficulties for players to enjoy. Players can play several songs (Tracks) per coin (Credit). The game is regularly updated via the network to include new versions, UI changes, songs, charts, and gameplay mechanics.
Following the end of updates for the final version of maimai, "maimai FiNALE," and its subsequent offline transition, on July 11, 2019, "maimai でらっくす" based on a brand-new hardware cabinet officially began operation in Japan. This title continues the basic gameplay and some data from maimai while adding more new elements. The current version ismaimai でらっくすthe 14th version of "maimai でらっくす CiRCLE PLUS”.
Since 2016, maimai has been operating outside of Japan, commonly referred to as the International Version. With the official launch ofmaimai でらっくす, the new International Version cabinet (maimai DX International Ver.) also began operation shortly after. It is currently deployed in regions including the United States (select machines), Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan. In mainland China,Jingwen SEGAintroduced the original version of maimai and translated it as "MaiMai" (舞萌). However, operations ceased shortly after due to Jingwen SEGA's financial losses and subsequent closure. Starting from 2019,Wahlap Technologytook over the distribution and operation of the mainland Chinese version of maimai DX under the name "MaiMai DX" (舞萌DX), which has been widely distributed across mainland China. Version updates occur approximately once a year, covering about two versions' worth of content from the Japanese server within that year; the current version is "MaiMai DX 2025." In North America, besides the ROUND1 arcades that imported International Version cabinets, a North American specific version of maimai DX based on the International Version servers has been gradually deployed since 2025. Initially, its progress lagged significantly behind the Japanese server and even the mainland Chinese server, but it has since synchronized with the International Version. However, regional factors have led to several issues, including but not limited to maintenance occurring during local daytime hours and the unavailability of certain licensed tracks, which prevents the normal acquisition of some version-specific nameplates.
maimai でらっくすThe tracklist covers a very wide range, including not only current popular hits, Touhou Project, and VOCALOID/niconico songs, but also a vast variety of licensed tracks and high-quality original music. The game frequently holds collaboration events with popular anime, producers, music circles, games, and more, alongside the other two arcade rhythm games developed by SEGA, "CHUNITHM" and "Ongeki", it frequently holds collaboration events and song exchanges.
Unless otherwise specified, the following information is based on the latest update of the current Japanese version, "maimai でらっくす CiRCLE PLUS". Differences between the International version, Mainland China version, and the Japanese version are summarized at the end of this page.

A maimai cabinet consists of a pair of two units, left and right. A set of units cannot be played separately; players can choose between single-player or two-player mode.
The play area of maimai consists of two parts: eight buttons and a screen. Players need to perform various actions on the chart based on the prompts on the screen and aim for the highest possible achievement rate.
maimai Note types:
Some notes also have special attributes:
Regarding SLIDE:
maimai has a total of five judgment levels:
Different types of notes have different judgment criteria:
For more detailed mechanisms regarding judgment, please refer toBilibili user 墨滢-moying's column。
There are two types of regular charts in maimai:Standard Chart(スタンダード譜面) andDX Chart(でらっくす譜面). Among them, Standard Charts refer to charts that do not contain new DX elements. These charts will not feature TOUCH notes, BREAK notes only appear as single points, and Notes do not have the EX-NOTE attribute. DX Charts refer to charts that contain new DX elements. These charts will feature TOUCH notes, and Notes have the EX-NOTE attribute. Among these, BREAK HOLD, BREAK SLIDE, BREAK EX-TAP, TOUCH notes appearing at the edge of the screen, flashing TOUCH notes not in the center of the screen, and complex SLIDEs formed by combinations of basic SLIDE shapes are all new elements introduced in the FESTiVAL version; TOUCH HOLD notes not in the center of the screen are a new element introduced in the PRiSM+ version.
A song usually has either a Standard Chart or a DX Chart, or both. All charts from the old cabinets are Standard Charts. Sincemaimai でらっくすonwards, the game's charts have been primarily DX Charts, and Standard Charts are only added when adding a Standard Chart for a new cabinet song or when adding a Re:MASTER difficulty to a Standard Chart (except for AFTER PANDORA). Occasionally, DX Charts are also added for old cabinet songs. For songs that have both Standard and DX Charts, you can switch between chart types on the song selection page by pressing buttons 2 and 7 simultaneously.
There are five difficulty levels for regular maimai charts, which areBASIC(BASIC),ADVANCED(ADVANCED),EXPERT(EXPERT),MASTER(MASTER) andRe:MASTER(Re:MASTER) difficulty (usually referred to as green, yellow, red, purple, and white charts respectively). Among them, Re:MASTER difficulty is an extra difficulty, only available for some songs, and Re:MASTER charts may also be added separately later.
Different difficulty levels have different characteristics. For example, in BASIC charts, the button positions of two consecutive notes are usually adjacent; in BASIC and ADVANCED charts, the speed of SLIDE TRACE is usually slower; in BASIC and ADVANCED difficulty DX charts, TOUCH notes are larger compared to other difficulties. The MASTER and Re:MASTER difficulties of DX charts usually need to be unlocked; players can unlock them by achieving an S rank on any of the EXPERT, MASTER, or Re:MASTER difficulties of the corresponding song. During local multiplayer, if one player has unlocked the corresponding chart, the other player can also choose to play it in that session. Since the maimai DX CiRCLE version, DX charts of MASTER and Re:MASTER difficulties added four versions prior no longer require unlocking and can be played unconditionally.
Some songs have the "ロング" attribute (Long Version): Playing a Long Version chart consumes 2 TRACKs (at the same time, players cannot play the song when only 1 TRACK remains in Normal Mode; playing this song in Freedom Mode requires at least two minutes of remaining time, and the Quick Retry function cannot be used in the last two minutes); when playing a Long Version song, the earned Partner Level, Friend Matching Points, CIRCLE Points, etc., are all calculated at 2x.
In the Utage (宴会場) category, the charts are unconventional. This category opens after the player's total DX Rating reaches 10,000, featuring "attributes" and "Utage Levels," and cannot be played through local matching. Some charts have the "バディ" attribute; these charts require local multiplayer to play. The original "Achievement Rate" and "DX Score" are replaced by "Dual Achievement Rate" and "Dual DX Score," which are the sum of both players' scores; these will not be detailed further below. Some charts also restrict specific game settings, such as Skip Song or Mirror Mode.
In addition to difficulty names, charts also useLevelto represent chart difficulty. Currently, the chart level range in maimai is 1 to 15. Starting from Level 7, a numerical level is divided into two levels, such as Level 7 and the higher difficulty Level 7+. A higher level represents a potentially higher chart difficulty.
Each chart uses a more accurate "Constant" in calculations when computing the single-track DX Rating. Compared to chart levels, the constant is a more detailed quantification of chart difficulty. Even if two charts display the same level, the chart with a higher constant may have a higher difficulty.
The constant is accurate to one decimal place. A chart's constant is within the range of Level +0.0 to Level +0.9. For charts with a level of 7 or higher, those with a constant of Level +0.6 or higher are classified as "+" levels.
Currently, the chart with the highest constant in the game isPANDORA PARADOXXX、系ぎてtoXaleid◆scopiX's Re:MASTER difficulty chart is one of the only three Level 15 charts in the game and has a constant of 15.0.
The "Utage difficulty" of charts in the Utage category uses "?" as a distinction based on the approximate level of the chart. For example, "[協]Love You"'s Utage chart level is marked as 12?.
Players enter the results screen after completing a play session.
The result screen contains the following elements:
maimai'sAchievement Rate(スコア, Achievement) is the value most commonly used to measure the player's performance for a given play.
In a single play, the maximum achievement rate for a player is 101.0000%, including 100.0000% Base Achievement and 1.0000% Bonus Achievement.
Base Achievement is calculated as a weighted average of the judgements of all notes in the chart, where TAP and TOUCH notes account for 1, HOLD notes account for 2, SLIDE notes account for 3, and BREAK notes account for 5. Bonus Achievement is calculated collectively from the judgements of all BREAK notes in the chart.
The achievement rate obtained for various notes under different judgements is inconsistent. Based on the actual judgements obtained, the achievement rates for each note type are shown in the table below:
| Note Type | Non-BREAK | BREAK | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Judgment | Basic Achievement Rate | Basic Achievement Rate | Extra Achievement Rate |
| CRITICAL PERFECT | 100% | 100% | 100% |
| PERFECT | 75% | ||
| 50% | |||
| GREAT | 80% | 80% | 40% |
| 60% | |||
| 50% | |||
| GOOD | 50% | 40% | 30% |
| MISS | 0% | 0% | 0% |
The final achievement rate of the game is obtained by summing the achievement rates earned from each Note. Reaching an achievement rate of 80.0000% is considered a pass (CLEARED).

After a play, the player's achievement rate and rank for that session will be displayed in the center of the screen, along with the difference from their personal best. If the achievement rate exceeds the personal best, a "NEW RECORD" notification will be shown.
Used to record combo status for single-player and multiplayer games respectively.
Combo(COMBO) is a metric used to measure the results of a player's current play. Every time a player completes a Note, the combo count increases by 1. When a player receives a MISS judgment, the combo count resets.
Sync(SYNC) is only recorded during multiplayer games. It is a metric used to measure multiplayer game results. When every player in a multiplayer game completes a Note, the sync count increases by 1. When any player receives a MISS judgment, the sync count resets.
After a play, the player's maximum combo (MAX COMBO) for that session and the maximum sync (MAX SYNC) in multiplayer mode will be displayed in the bottom right corner of the screen. Reaching the maximum for either is called FULL COMBO and FULL SYNC, respectively.
maimai'sDX Score(でらっくすスコア) is an evaluation standard for the player's performance in a session, distinct from the achievement rate.
The DX Score is calculated as follows: 3 points for a CRITICAL PERFECT judgment, 2 points for a PERFECT judgment, 1 point for a GREAT judgment, and no points for other judgments. The final DX Score is the sum of all judgments. Because there is a significant difference between CRITICAL PERFECT and PERFECT in the DX Score calculation, this standard requires even higher accuracy than the achievement rate, making it extremely difficult to achieve a perfect score. Since the DX Score does not affect the achievement rate or DX Rating, high-level players can use it as a reference to more purely understand their play accuracy.
DX Score Rankis a rough ranking of the DX Score, providing a more intuitive display of the ratio between the DX Score and the theoretical maximum DX Score.

Single Player evaluations include the following four types, which increase in difficulty and overwrite each other:
Multiplayer evaluations include the following five types, increasing in difficulty and overwriting each other:
でらっくすRATING(DX Rating) is a numerical value that can quantify a player's skill level to a certain extent.
A player's DX Rating is composed of the sum of the 35 highest DX Rating values from regular charts of past versions and the 15 highest DX Rating values from regular charts of the current version. Utage charts are not included in the DX Rating calculation.
The DX Rating value of a chart is calculated using the following formula and rounded down:
Among them, the achievement rate is only calculated for the portion not exceeding 100.5000%. Achievement rates exceeding 100.5000% are calculated as 100.5000%. See the table below for rank coefficients:

Depending on the player's DX Rating, the background color of the DX Rating will also change. Starting from the maimai DX CiRCLE+ version, when the DX Rating reaches 14000 or above, it will be decorated with a different number of ☆ based on the background color and the DX Rating itself.
Details are as follows:
Players can adjust visual, audio, judgment, gameplay settings, and other options on maimai DX NET or before starting a song.
Players can choose from three types of Simple Settings or Detailed Settings.
Simple Settings:
Detailed Settings:
Players can log in to an existing account or register a new one by scanning an Aime card at the designated area on the machine. Newly registered accounts can play 1 Track for free, or play 4 Tracks for free when playing with another person on the same machine. After logging in with an Aime card and finishing a game, the machine uploads the results, progress, and data of that session. Players can also select one result from a session to upload. Players can also useでらっくすパス(DX Pass) to unlock certain effects and functions. In addition, players can use "maimaiでらっくすNET" (maimai DX NET) to check game news, player info, event info, collection items, change settings, rankings, and more online.
Players can also use a guest account to play, but no data or information from that session can be saved.
During the first few plays of a new account or when playing as a guest, the game will ask if the player wants to enter the tutorial. Tutorials include the Beginner Tutorial and New Features Tutorial, which introduce basic gameplay and new DX features respectively; players can choose to skip them. During the tutorial, players can also exit by long-pressing buttons 4 and 5.
Since the maimai DX BUDDiES version, a restriction has been added where nicknames can only be changed once every 10 plays, but Hiragana/Katakana can now be used as part of the nickname.
After logging in or using a guest account, players can start single-player mode by waiting for the countdown to end or pressing button 5 to skip it. During single-player mode, other players cannot join mid-game; the idle side of the cabinet will display "Please wait for the other player to finish" and play the background video of the current song.
In single-player mode, players can choose from three modes: Normal Mode, Freedom Mode, and Dan Certification Mode. Sync counts are not calculated in single-player mode, and sync-related ratings cannot be obtained.
When both sides of the cabinet have logged in or are using guest accounts, two-player mode begins after the countdown. This is also known as "sharing a machine."
In two-player mode, players can choose between Normal Mode and Dan Certification Mode. Sync counts are calculated, and sync-related ratings can be achieved. Players can also play songs they don't own but the other player does, as well as MASTER/Re:MASTER charts they haven't unlocked but the other player has. Furthermore, players can obtain "Transmission Songs" by playing them together. The first local multiplayer session of the day also grants progress on the Stamp Card.
During two-player play, both players must play the same song at the same time. Generally, both players can choose any difficulty, but for songs that have both Standard and DX charts, both players must choose either the Standard chart or the DX chart together.
When two non-guest players who are not registered as friends play together, if both have "Skip Add Friend Setting" set to "Do Not Skip" in their settings, they will enter the Add Friend screen. If both agree, they can be added as friends on the spot.
After entering the game, by selecting the corresponding option on the screen before the song starts, you can invite players on other cabinets in the store to play together. After the invited player receives a pop-up notification, they can find the song category named Store Recruitment and select the corresponding chart to join.
The Store Recruitment function supports matching between any two cabinets on the same local area network, supporting up to 4 players simultaneously. The matching rules are basically the same as two-player play, but charts in the Utage category and charts in Friend Matching mode cannot be selected.
ノーマル(Normal Mode) is the most commonly used play mode. Each player needs 1 Credit to play. In Normal Mode, a player can play 3 Tracks in a single-player game, or 4 Tracks in a multiplayer game. In this mode, players can advance in Areas, change or upgrade Partners, and use most game systems such as Course Songs, Perfect Challenge, and Friend Matching.
フリーダム(Freedom Mode) is a play mode that differs from Normal Mode in that it specifies the time required for a game session rather than counting the number of Tracks. This mode requires 2 Credits to play, and guest accounts or newly registered accounts cannot select this mode.
In Freedom Mode, players can play any song any number of times within 10 minutes until the countdown ends. The countdown only runs from the song selection screen to the result screen, and the remaining time is displayed on the screen of the other side of the cabinet. In this mode, if an Aime card is scanned again in the designated area, a prompt will appear asking whether to end Freedom Mode, and the corresponding option can be selected to force the game to end.
In this mode, players can use the TRACK SKIP mechanism to quickly play multiple Tracks. In addition to the usual TRACK SKIP, Freedom Mode allows for a quick restart by simultaneously pressing buttons 3, 4, 5, and 6 during a game to start playing the same chart again. In this mode, players cannot play songs marked as "ロング", cannot advance in Areas, cannot upgrade Partners, and cannot use game systems such as Course Songs and Perfect Challenge.
After Freedom Mode ends, players can obtain one Area Bonus Ticket "ちほー進行1.5倍チケット".
Because Freedom Mode requires more
段位認定(Dan Certification Mode) is a gameplay mode geared towards high-level players. Each player requires 1 Credit to play. In this mode, players can choose specific Dan ranks to challenge. In standard Dan ranks, the songs, difficulties, and play order are fixed. In Random Dan ranks, players can only choose random song selection.
In Dan Certification Mode, regardless of the number of players, players can play 4 Tracks in a single game session. After a player's first successful Dan Certification of the day, they can obtain the Area Bonus Ticket "ちほー進行1.5倍チケット".
In this mode, players cannot progress through Areas, level up Partners, or use game systems such as Task Tracks and Perfect Challenge.

カレイドスコープモード(KALEIDXSCOPE Mode) ismaimai でらっくす PRiSMversion tomaimai でらっくす CiRCLEversion period, a gameplay mode geared towards high-level players. Each player requires 1 Credit to play. It is currently no longer playable.
For more information regarding KALEIDXSCOPE Mode, please seebelow。
お誘いプレイ(Invitation Play) ismaimai でらっくす UNiVERSE PLUSversion, an invitation play mechanic implemented.
Limited to one game per day, players playing solo with an account can choose Invitation Play to invite another person to play the BASIC or ADVANCED difficulty charts of the same song for free. If both players pass (achieve an achievement rate of 80.0000% or higher), the player who issued the invitation can obtain the Area Bonus Ticket "ちほー進行1.5倍チケット".
Invitation Play is treated as solo play. The invited player will not have any account information displayed, will not participate in rankings with other players during the results screen, and the player playing with them cannot obtain a 2-Player rating.
でらっくすパス(DX Pass) are physical cards that provide certain game functions. Players can swipe the card at the corresponding location on the cabinet after entering the game. There are two types of DX Passes, of whichフリーダムパス(FREEDOM Pass) can extend the Freedom Mode game time to 12 minutes.
maimaiでらっくすNET(maimai DX NET) is the game's online management system. Players can use certain paid features on a monthly subscription basis, including the privilege of playing 4 Tracks in their first single-player game of each day.
For more information regarding DX Pass and maimai DX NET, please seebelow。
ちほー(Area) ismaimai でらっくすa game system implemented in the version to obtain rewards through gameplay.
つあーメンバー(Tour Member) is a game system implemented alongside Areas.
Areas are a game system where players progress through an area by selecting Tour Members and playing songs to obtain various rewards. After the player selectsノーマルモード(Normal Mode), the player can choose an area to progress in and select up to five Tour Members to travel with. After playing each song, the travel distance is calculated based on the selected Tour Members, bonuses, used tickets, and play performance. Upon reaching specific positions in the area, rewards such as collectibles, songs, and Tour Members can be obtained. It may also trigger an Assignment Song or a Perfect Challenge: for an Assignment Song, the player can continue progressing by clearing it on any difficulty, and if it's a reward song, it will be unlocked; for a Perfect Challenge, the player must complete the corresponding challenge to unlock the challenge song (seebelow)。
Tour Members are indispensable characters for progressing through Areas. Players can carry up to 5 Tour Members at a time, and can adjust them after selecting an area before each game, or onmaimaiでらっくすNET. Players can also adjust their Tour Member lineup when obtaining new ones.
Tour Members have levels and star ranks. When a level reaches a certain value, the Tour Member may Awaken, thereby increasing their star rank; reaching certain star ranks grants icons and collectibles. The bonus distance in an area is also categorized into "とくい" (Specialty) and "にがて" (Non-specialty), and only Tour Members marked as "Specialty" can play a greater role in the corresponding area.
The level of a Tour Member increases with the number of times the player plays in Normal Mode. Therefore, the level roughly represents the number of times the player has played with that Tour Member. The initial level of a Tour Member is 1. Under normal circumstances, the level increases by 1 for every 1 Track played, with a maximum level of 9999. Level increases are calculated at the end of each game session, where the level increase equals the number of plays * DX Pass multiplier * Area Bonus Ticket multiplier. As the Tour Member's level increases, they will Awaken and gain a star rank when reaching levels 9, 49, 99, 299, 999, and 9999. A Tour Member can have a maximum of 6 stars (the sixth star is represented by all stars changing color). The sum of all Tour Members' star ranks is the覚醒回数(Awakening Count).
Starting from the maimai DX PRiSM PLUS version, once a Tour Member reaches level 9999, they can undergo "Super Awakening." The number of Super Awakenings will be displayed above the Tour Member's level, and the level will reset to 1 (though the star count remains at 6 stars).
After a game, players can advance a certain distance in the area. The specific distance is calculated using the following formula and rounded up:
When a player encounters a Course Track or Perfect Challenge Track that prevents further progress in the area, the remaining distance will be stored in the "ストック". Stored distance can be used after clearing a Course Track or Perfect Challenge Track, and can even be used in other areas. The storage limit is 999Km. If the player fails to complete a Course Track or meet the Perfect Challenge Track requirements, the stored distance will not increase or decrease.
Areas are generally divided into two types: Original Areas and Event Areas. Original Areas can be further divided into Normal Original Areas, Special Original Areas, and Infinite Areas. Each version typically has 4–6 Normal Original Areas and 1 Infinite Area. These areas are usually open during the current version and the next version, and close after two versions; since themaimai でらっくす UNiVERSE PLUSversion, some Original Areas from past versions have been reprinted and benefit from the "ちほーブースト" area progress speed bonus (since the maimai DX CiRCLE+ version). Event Areas are typically open for 1–2 months, after which the area closes. For both Original Areas and Event Areas, once the area ends, the songs or chart rewards obtainable within that area will be unlocked for general play.
For every 1000Km progressed in the Infinite Area corresponding to the current version (starting from 500Km), you can obtain a "プレゼント" (Gift) to give to a partner to increase their affection.
Original Areas (Normal) belong to seven "エリア” (AREA). Regions within the same AREA may share the same worldview. The AREA list is as follows:
| AREA | Region |

パーフェクトチャレンジ(PERFECT CHALLENGE) ismaimai でらっくす Splasha song unlock system implemented in the version.
PERFECT CHALLENGE songs are songs encountered while progressing through certain Areas. These songs usually belong to Original Areas, and in rare cases, Event Areas. You can only continue progressing in the corresponding Area after meeting the unlock requirements for the PERFECT CHALLENGE song.
The gameplay mechanism of PERFECT CHALLENGE uses a life bar system. Players lose 1 life point when hitting a judgment below PERFECT. If the life bar is depleted, the game ends immediately and the PERFECT CHALLENGE fails; if the life bar is not depleted by the end of the song, the PERFECT CHALLENGE is successful and the corresponding song is unlocked.
The meaning of PERFECT CHALLENGE is that if a player wants to unlock the corresponding song on the first day, they must achieve an ALL PERFECT rating on MASTER difficulty. However, as the PERFECT CHALLENGE remains open longer, the difficulty and life bar limits for completing the challenge will be relaxed. See the table below for details.
| Challenge Period (CiRCLE~) | Difficulty Requirement | Health Requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Day 1~ | MASTER | 1 |
| Day 4~ | MASTER | 10 |
| Day 11~ | EXPERTand above | 50 |
| Day 18~ | EXPERTand above | 100 |
| Day 25~ | BASICand above | 300 |
See the table below for PERFECT CHALLENGE songs:
伝導楽曲(Transmission Song) ismaimai でらっくす Splash+a song unlock system implemented in the version.
The basic rule for Transmission Songs is to play the song with a player who already owns it (including local multiplayer and in-store recruitment) to unlock the song.
Some songs are LEGEND Transmission Songs: LEGEND Transmission Songs cannot be obtained through in-store recruitment, and require the transmitter to reach LEGEND rank. For details, seebelow。
Reward new songs from CiRCLE FESTA (for players who failed to obtain them) also use the Transmission unlock method. For details, seebelow。

スコアアタック(SCORE ATTACK) ismaimai でらっくす Splashan event format implemented since the version.
SCORE ATTACK events are open during the online preliminary stage of the KING of Performai tournament. In this mode, players compete for rankings by playing specified task songs under the event category to compare their total Achievement Rate and total DX Score; these rankings serve as the selection basis for the corresponding KING of Performai tournamentmaimai でらっくすside.
The main rule of this mode is that players play all three specified task songs within one play session (unlimited attempts), and the sum of the highest Achievement Rate and the sum of the DX Scores for each song are used as the player's total Achievement Rate and DX Score. In addition to the MASTER difficulty, players can also choose to play on EXPERT, ADVANCED, and BASIC difficulties, but 1.0000%, 2.0000%, and 3.0000% will be deducted from the actual Achievement Rate respectively. Players can challenge an unlimited number of times during the event period, but the results will only be refreshed in the following cases:
The rankings for this mode can be checked on maimai DX NET. The rankings display the IDs, total Achievement Rates, and DX Scores of the top 200 players in each region. The ranking rule is that those with a higher total Achievement Rate are ranked higher; if the total Achievement Rate is the same, those with a higher total DX Score are ranked higher; if both the total Achievement Rate and total DX Score are the same, the one who achieved the score first is ranked higher.
After the SCORE ATTACK event ends, players who reach a certain rank can obtain limited titles, and the player who reaches first place can also receive a limited name plate for that event.
The challenge songs for each event are all songs from the "maimai" or "CHUNITHM & オンゲキ" categories. Challenge songs can be played freely under the event category, ignoring unlock conditions. The third song of each challenge set is always a new song, which can be unlocked after completing the first two songs in the event category. They are usually unlocked for general play some time after the event ends.
Since KING of Performai The 4th established an International Version division, the International Version holds qualifier events simultaneously with the Japanese Version, with separate rankings.
The challenge songs for each SCORE ATTACK event are listed in the table below, with new songs marked in bold. For information regarding the KING of Performai tournament, please seebelow。

オトモダチ対戦(Friend Battle) ismaimai でらっくすa virtual battle feature implemented in the version and refined through several adjustments.
In this mode, players need to select an opponent from all available opponents under the "Friend Battle" category and choose a chart of the current song that is not lower than the current difficulty to play and compete in achievement rate. The opponent's ID, Dan rank, DX Rating, and approximate grade (displaying the grade one level above the opponent's achievement rate, with SSS+ scores marked as MAX) are all displayed for the player to judge. Starting from the maimai DX PRiSM PLUS version, each player has 5 "Higher CLASS Opponents," 5 "Same CLASS Opponents," and 5 "Lower CLASS Opponents,"[3]for a total of 15 battle opponents (which may include locked songs). Opponents refresh after each credit played.
CLASS POINT is the point system for Friend Battle, earned when a player wins a Friend Battle. CLASS is the rank in Friend Battle, representing the player's Friend Battle skill level. CLASS includes 26 Friend Battle ranks, from lowest to highest: B5–B1, A5–A1, S5–S1, SS5–SS1, SSS5–SSS1, and LEGEND. Starting from A5, increasing the Friend Battle rank requires defeating a specific BOSS opponent (ボスオトモダチ, with the avatar being Dark Tap-kun) to promote. Starting from the maimai DX BUDDiES version, the LEGEND Class can only be achieved after the first Friend Matching season of the current version.
Each Friend Matching game calculates CLASS POINT based on your own Friend Matching Class, the opponent's Friend Matching Class, and the victory status. Generally, players earn more CLASS POINT when defeating an opponent with a higher Friend Matching Class than themselves, and fewer points when defeating a lower-class opponent; conversely, players lose fewer CLASS POINT when losing to an opponent with a higher Friend Matching Class and more points when losing to a lower-class opponent. CLASS POINT will not decrease in the B5~B1 classes. During matches against BOSS opponents (Promotion Matches), successfully defeating the opponent promotes the player to the next rank and awards 10 CLASS POINT, with no penalty for losing; players can challenge the BOSS opponent repeatedly until they promote.
After a game version update, the CLASS will be reset to a certain extent based on the CLASS rank of the previous version. The rules are: SSS5 and above reset to SS5, SS1~SS5 reset to S5, S5~S1 reset to A5, and below A1 reset to B5.
LEGEND Transmission Songs are songs that can be obtained after a player reaches the LEGEND Class and can be transmitted to other players using the Transmission Song mechanism. Compared to regular Transmission Songs, LEGEND Transmission Songs require the transmitter to be of LEGEND Class and cannot be transmitted through in-store recruitment. For details on Transmission Songs, seeabove。
Frommaimai でらっくす Splash PLUSStarting from the beginning of each version, a LEGEND Transmission Song will be introduced. When advancing from SSS1 to the LEGEND Class, players need to play this song against an SSS1 BOSS opponent. After reaching the LEGEND Class, the current version's LEGEND Transmission Song can be unlocked.
Players who have reached a specific class can play against special opponents for the LEGEND Transmission Song outside of the Friend Matching season. Winning the match also unlocks the song, but unless the player reaches the LEGEND Class, they cannot transmit it to others according to the Transmission Song rules.
Since the LEGEND Class can only be achieved after the first Friend Matching season of the current version, Transmission Songs will also only become available after the first Friend Matching season of that version.
LEGEND Transmission Songs will be regularly unlocked at the beginning of the next version after their original version ends. Below is the list of LEGEND Transmission Songs from past versions:

シーズン(Season) ismaimai でらっくす UNiVERSEan event format implemented since the maimai DX version that focuses on Friend Matching.
Each version typically holds three seasons, with each season usually lasting 3-4 weeks. By playing Friend Matching mode during a season, players can earnシーズンポイント(Season Points, hereinafter referred to as SP). By accumulating SP, players can unlock new song/chart rewards for that season and participate in the season point rankings. After the season ends, various rewards such as season titles and name plates will be awarded based on the rankings.
SP acquisition is mainly divided into two categories: playing and winning Friend Matches:
Each season introduces reward songs/Standard charts/DX charts for that season. Current season rewards require 300 SP to unlock. Usually[5], even if a player fails to unlock the reward in the corresponding season, they can exchange it for 200 SP in the next season, or for 100 SP two seasons later. After three seasons, the reward will usually be unlocked for everyone. Below is the list of seasons and rewards:
カレイドスコープ(KALEIDXSCOPE) ismaimai でらっくす PRiSMversion tomaimai でらっくす CiRCLEa song unlock system used during the version.
KALEIDXSCOPE is a three-song course that can be entered after the player obtains a "Gate" (扉) and its corresponding "Key" (鍵). Different colored Gates correspond to different AREAs. Players need to complete the corresponding AREA regions appearing in the PRiSM or PRiSM PLUS versions to discover a "Gate", and obtain a "Key" by meeting specific conditions. Since the maimai DX CiRCLE+ version, all reward songs in this mode have been fully unlocked for regular play.
The course consists of three songs. The first two songs are randomly selected (within a range) from the reward songs/Task Reward songs/Perfect Challenge songs of all regions in that AREA, and the third song is a new KALEIDXSCOPE reward song. Clearing the course has difficulty and life requirements. Players must select a difficulty no lower than a specific level and ensure their life does not run out before the end of the play. If successful, the KALEIDXSCOPE is completed, the new KALEIDXSCOPE reward song is directly unlocked, and an icon corresponding to that KALEIDXSCOPE region is awarded.
The initial clearing requirement for KALEIDXSCOPE is MASTER difficulty or higher / 1-life clear. As the number of players who successfully complete the challenge reaches certain thresholds, the difficulty and life requirements are relaxed the following day.
| Number of successful challengers | Difficulty Requirement | Health Requirement |
|---|---|---|
| 0 | MASTER | 1 |
| 1~9 | MASTER | 10 |
| 10~99 | MASTER | 50 |
| 100~999 | EXPERTand above | 100 |
| 1000~ | BASICand above | 999 |
Regular KALEIDXSCOPE information is shown in the table below (in the maimai DX CiRCLE version, the first six Gates can be played without completing unlock conditions; unlock conditions are based on the tracks included on the day the KALEIDXSCOPE was added):

After completing "KALEIDXSCOPE -旧き世界-", use the DX Pass printed with "KALEIDXSCOPEの鍵" DX Pass[11]and enter KALEIDXSCOPE, the management system "PRiSM" will reappear in the center of the screen.
At this point, you can click the center of the screen to attempt the KALEIDXSCOPE challenge. When entering the KALEIDXSCOPE challenge for the first time, all song information is displayed as garbled text, and an unlock PV is played after starting the game; thereafter, all song information is displayed normally. If the difficulty requirement is "Re:MASTER" when entering this challenge for the first time, the difficulty requirement and selected difficulty displayed before starting will both be MASTER, and an animation showing the chart difficulty upgrading will appear after the unlock PV plays but before gameplay begins.
KALEIDXSCOPE -PRiSM- features only one song, "Xaleid◆scopiX", which is the same third song players played in "KALEIDXSCOPE -???-".
However, the difference between this challenge and the usual KALEIDXSCOPE is:

In summary, the songs/charts that can be unlocked in this series of challenges are as follows:
サークルフェスタ(CiRCLE FESTA) ismaimai でらっくす CiRCLEan event implemented in the version.
Players can join a CIRCLE before the season starts and vote to join one of the three provided TEAM options, and earn by playing during the seasonフェスタポイント(FESTA POINT, hereinafter referred to as FP). By accumulating 20,000 FP, players can unlock the FP rewards for that season and contribute to their corresponding TEAM; players who joined the final winning TEAM will receive early access reward songs after the season ends; meanwhile, various rewards such as season titles and name plates will be awarded based on rankings.
Players can participate in the CiRCLE FESTA event by joining a CIRCLE and voting for their chosen TEAM during the voting period of the current CiRCLE FESTA event.
The CiRCLE FESTA event consists of two phases: the "Voting Phase" to determine the CIRCLE's affiliation, and the "Event Phase" where FESTA POINTs can be earned. The Voting Phase begins one week before the Event Phase and ends one week after the event officially starts.
The TEAM affiliation of the corresponding CIRCLE is determined by the following methods:
During CiRCLE FESTA, players cannot freely create, join, or leave their current CIRCLE; CIRCLE LEADERs cannot kick members from the CIRCLE or approve CIRCLE join requests; Personal CIRCLEs will not be automatically disbanded due to the above two points.
After the Event Phase begins, players can earn FESTA POINTs by playing in Normal Mode. Players cannot earn FESTA POINTs in Freedom Mode, Course Mode, or KALEIDXSCOPE Mode. The FESTA POINTs earned by players will accumulate toward their CIRCLE's total FESTA POINTs and contribute to the corresponding TEAM ranking, while also accumulating toward the total FESTA POINTs of the corresponding TEAM within the store and affecting that store's TEAM ranking (rankings are calculated after daily maintenance; the TEAM with the most FESTA POINTs within a store is the winning TEAM for that store). The CiRCLE FESTA TEAM ranking is determined by the number of stores occupied by the dominant TEAM after the Event Phase ends. The dominant TEAM that occupies the most stores wins. Players can identify the store's dominant TEAM and TEAM ranking through the LED colors on the upper part of the cabinet (except for the last TRACK during play), the upper part of the title screen, and the button colors (when the title screen is displayed), and can also check the overall CiRCLE FESTA rankings and specific store TEAM rankings via maimai DX NET.
FESTA POINTs are calculated after each game. The calculation rule is "(Clear Points + Counterattack Points + Daily Play Points + 2-Player Play Points) * Paid Ticket Bonus".
FESTA POINT rewards include the following:
Below is the list of season dates and rewards:
段位認定(Dan Certification) is a game system that demonstrates a player's skill by achieving a specific rank through playing specific charts consecutively.
Players need to select the "段位認定" mode before playing to enter the Dan Certification system. Once entered, you cannot exit.
Dan is divided into Standard Dan Mode and Random Dan Mode. Among them, clearing a Standard Dan will update the latest and highest Dan Certification passing result. After selecting a specific Dan, players need to play four songs consecutively according to the chart difficulty and play order required by that Dan; Random Dan will randomly select songs within a specified range based on chart difficulty and level requirements. If the player successfully clears the songs according to the life bar rules of the corresponding Dan, the Dan Certification is passed.
During Standard Dan Certification or Random Dan Certification, locked songs or charts may appear, but they can still be played directly; reaching specific conditions (such as unlocking charts or obtaining collectibles) can also trigger corresponding actions.
Each major version update will change the songs for Dan Certification and reset the player's Dan rank.
There are 22 Standard Dans in total, divided into the following types:
After entering Dan Certification mode for the first time, players can directly choose any Omote Dan to play; after clearing Omote 10th Dan, all Shin Dan are unlocked; after passing Shin Kaiden, Ura Kaiden is unlocked.
When playing solo, if the life gauge is emptied during an Omote Dan challenge, the player can still continue, but challenging Shin Dan or Ura Dan will result in a forced end to the Dan challenge; in multiplayer, a forced end only occurs when all players' life gauges are empty, meaning that when challenging Shin Dan or Ura Dan in multiplayer, as long as any player is still in the challenge, one can continue even if their own life gauge is empty (though the track that caused their own life gauge to empty cannot be continued by them).

すたんぷカード(Stamp Card) ismaimai でらっくす UNiVERSEa game system similar to login bonuses implemented since the version.
Before the first play of the day, players can choose a stamp card and place a stamp on it; playing with others grants an additional stamp. Completing a stamp card grants corresponding rewards, including Partners, Charts, Icons, Name Plates, Backgrounds, etc. Stamp cards for Charts and Collectibles are removed after one or two versions (some are moved to the maiMILE shop), and reward charts are then unlocked for general play.
When a player completes all stamp cards for the current version, they can choose an infinite stamp card with 10 stamps, with the reward being "ちほー進行1.5倍チケット".
Chart rewards are listed in the table below (charts from PRiSM+ and earlier versions have been unlocked for general play):

チケット(Tickets) aremaimai でらっくす Splash PLUSa game feature implemented since certain versions to speed up area progress.
Before playing in Normal Mode, players can use tickets to speed up area progress and Tour Member leveling. Using paid tickets (red) also allows direct play of MASTER and Re:MASTER difficulties for DX charts.
Ticket types are as follows:
maiマイルショップ(maiMILE Shop) is a feature to use "maiマイル" (maiMILE) to exchange for collectibles.
“maiマイル" is mainly obtained by completingウィークリーミッション(Weekly Missions), completingサークルチャレンジ(CIRCLE CHALLENGE) and monthly CIRCLE POINT rewards. The amount of maiMILE will not carry over after each version update. The maximum limit for maiMILE is 99,999.
The collectibles that can be redeemed using maiMILE are as follows:
ウィークリーミッション(Weekly Missions) is a game system where players complete missions every week to obtain "maiマイル".
Weekly Missions include "ログイン""楽曲""バディ" three categories, with two missions in each category. Players must complete the first mission of each category to unlock the second mission.
Weekly Missions refresh on Monday mornings or on the day of a version update.
As three arcade rhythm games developed and operated by SEGA,maimai でらっくすtoCHUNITHM、Ongekithe relationship between them is inseparable. Although multiple tracks from CHUNITHM have been added since the old cabinet era, collaboration events in the new cabinet era are more frequent and diverse, covering songs, Tour Members, name plates, backgrounds, titles, and more.
Cabinet Collaboration Transmission Songs are a form of song collaboration. The main rule is that after the collaboration event starts, players use the same Aime card on CHUNITHM and Ongeki to play the designated song in any way (excluding CHUNITHM's WORLD'S END difficulty charts and Ongeki's LUNATIC difficulty charts), thereby unlocking the same song on the maimai DX cabinet. Even if there is a record of the designated song before the collaboration event starts, players still need to play it again. Similarly, there are similar collaboration events on the CHUNITHM and Ongeki sides. The acquired songs will be distributed to maimai DX NET as rewards.
Although there were songs using similar unlock mechanisms during the old cabinet era, the following recorded content all starts frommaimai でらっくすthe version, and old cabinet songs are not listed here. Sincemaimai でらっくす UNiVERSEthe version, each version update includes one Cabinet Collaboration Transmission Song each from CHUNITHM and Ongeki. でらっくすパス(DX Pass) is amaimai でらっくすphysical card with in-game functional effects implemented since the maimai DX version and printed using a card printer.
Players can choose certain original area Tour Members from the current version as the character for the DX Pass. By binding a purchased DX Pass to an existing Aime card account, players can receive bonuses and special features provided by the DX Pass for 15 days.
There are two types of DX Pass:ゴールドパス(GOLD Pass) andフリーダムパス(FREEDOM Pass). The DX Pass effects are as follows:
Due to version updates and other reasons, DX Pass sales will stop two weeks before a major version update. Please pay attention to official announcements.
maimaiでらっくすNET(maimai DX NET) ismaimai でらっくすthe online management system.
After successfully binding to an Aime card, players can use the following services on maimai DX NET:
In addition to the functions mentioned above, maimai DX NET additionally provides "スタンダードコース" paid service for 330 yen per calendar month. The paid features are as follows:
サークル(CIRCLE) is a team-like system mechanism officially introduced in the maimai DX CiRCLE version (pre-released on September 11, 2025, one week before the version's official launch).
Players can create a new CIRCLE and recruit members, or join an existing CIRCLE, to accumulate "サークルポイント" (CIRCLE POINT) with CIRCLE members and earn rewards; the CIRCLE ranking for the month and the individual's ranking within the CIRCLE will determine the next month's "サークルクラス" (CIRCLE CLASS), which determines the color of the CIRCLE icon background for the following month.
CIRCLEs are divided into "ユーザーサークル" (Personal CIRCLE) and "店舗サークル" (Store CIRCLE) types. The former can use all CIRCLE functions; the latter can use most CIRCLE functions. Players who have not joined a Personal CIRCLE will automatically belong to the Store CIRCLE corresponding to the store where they play.
Players can create or join a Personal CIRCLE on maimai DX NET. After creating a Personal CIRCLE, the player automatically becomes the CIRCLE LEADER of that CIRCLE. However, creating, joining, renaming, or leaving a Personal CIRCLE is subject to the following restrictions:
Players can obtain CIRCLE POINTs through gameplay. The rules for obtaining CIRCLE POINTs are as follows:
After the first day of each month, players will receive corresponding rewards based on the total CIRCLE POINTs obtained by that CIRCLE in the previous month. When the monthly CIRCLE POINTs reach 5,000 and 10,000, limited Title and Icon rewards for that month can be obtained. The reward list is as follows:

サークルチャレンジ(CIRCLE CHALLENGE) is a special gameplay mode centered around personal CiRCLEs, introduced in the maimai DX CiRCLE PLUS version.
After joining a personal CiRCLE, in the game's "サークル" category, players can play this week's CIRCLE CHALLENGE track. By playing multiple times and accumulating towards the target achievement rate (maximum 1000%), players can receive CIRCLE POINT and maiMILE rewards the following week (after Monday maintenance).
The CIRCLE CHALLENGE track for each CiRCLE is usually determined by the track last played by all CiRCLE members in the previous week. If no one played maimai DX in the previous week, the official will designate this week's CIRCLE CHALLENGE track.
Tracks currently serving as Perfect Challenge reward tracks, Transmission tracks, LEGEND Transmission tracks, or other tracks requiring special unlock methods, as well as Long tracks, cannot be selected as CIRCLE CHALLENGE tracks.
Located at the top center of the cabinet, it has the following functions:
コレクション(Collections) aremaimai でらっくすone of the reward contents, including icons, nameplates, backgrounds, titles, partners, gifts, and other types. Players can obtain collections through various methods and display specific collections as player information.

Players have the "デフォルト" and "ユーザーアイコン" are two initial icons, the latter of which is the image taken by the player using the camera before the game. When a player plays for the first timemaimai でらっくす, or plays on the 1P or 2P side, they will obtain icons.
The most basic way to obtain an icon is to have any Tour Member[16]awaken once to obtain an icon with the appearance of that Tour Member. In addition, some icons can also be obtained by meeting specific conditions during play, completing Stamp Card progress, clearing KALEIDXSCOPE, receiving CIRCLE POINT rewards, or reaching intimacy level 10 with a partner.

Among these, Version Name Plates are obtained by meeting specific conditions for all songs in a particular game version. Due to the high difficulty of acquisition, Version Name Plates are often seen as a symbol of a player's skill and dedication.
Version Name Plates mainly include the following four categories:
The special "Mai" series Name Plates differ from the ones mentioned above, as they target charts from the entire legacy cabinet era (maimai to maimai FiNALE). They include the following five types:
The range of charts usually corresponds to all charts updated in the current version, following these additional rules:

General titles can be obtained through reaching certain DX Rating values, number of Friend Match victories, Area progression, Tour Member Awakening, reaching 50/200/500 Intimacy with a Partner, collaborations with CHUNITHM/ONGEKI, CIRCLE POINT rewards, etc. Among these, any Tour Member[16]awakening 5 times will grant a title, and titles can also be obtained when Tour Members in Original Areas and some Collaboration Areas reach a certain number of awakenings.
