Introduction
The full name of E-site is E-hentaiRequires bypassing the Great Firewall to enter. The icon is just anE·H. The webpage has a Western geek style and is very minimalist.Actually, it just means it's verycrude.。
It is a non-profit online image sharing platform. Its registered users can upload anime doujinshi, artbook scans, Cosplay resources, and other content.
The website's content is primarilyerooriented doujinshi, but also includes American Hentai works, non-H doujinshi, as well as a small number of scans of serialized manga, artbooks, and setting collections, with occasional Cosplay galleries.
Surface and Hidden Sites
In order to host doujinshi that are easily considered copyright-infringing or have sensitive themes,as well as content that could be judged as child pornography in some countries,a "hidden site" named ExHentai was established,The X Makes It Sound Coolwhich is a site with more comprehensive resources, no advertisements, and specifically hosts content not found on the surface site.[1]
Directly accessing the "hidden site" will display an image of a crying panda[2], with the filename "sadpanda.jpg". (After the 2019 shutdown incident, it no longer returns the Sad Panda image, but rather empty content.[3]. )
Mentioning any information regarding the hidden site anywhere on E-Hentai or its forums will result in the user's account being permanently banned
On July 26, 2019, ExHentai was shut down due to policies in the Netherlands, where its servers were located.Later, the site moved its servers to other countries and went back online on August 2, 2019.

Gallery Uploading
- Do not upload forbidden items:
- Items on the Do Not Post (DNP) listHowever, for some items listed due to copyright issues, such as those from irodori, it is not impossible to upload them provided they are guaranteed to be a first-time upload (don't even think about it, you can't out-compete the veterans).

Gallery Categories
- Doujinshi: Publications created and published by artists themselves, usually secondary creations based on original works like anime/manga/games.
- Manga: Comics published by commercial publishers, including tankobon and magazine serializations.
- Artist CG: A collection of images consisting of variations of the same picture, such as different outfits, expressions, backgrounds, etc.
- Game CG: Game screens captured or extracted from eroge.
- Non-H: Content without any nudity or sexual depictions; even implied or censored content does not belong in this category.
- Image Set: A collection of multiple images by the same artist, without a fixed theme or story.
- Western: All works from Western artists; as long as the artist is Western, it must be placed in this category.
- Cosplay: Real-life people imitating the looks and costumes of characters from anime/manga/games.
- Misc: Content that cannot be classified into any of the above categories, such as 3D works, real-life props, game artbooks/strategy guides, and other miscellaneous images.
- Private: Galleries not shared with the rest of the E-hentai community. They do not earn GP. Creating such a gallery requires the user to donate a Bronze Star or higher.
Gallery Naming
E-Hentai has strict management over naming rules,You can also ignore them; people with too much time on their hands will help you correct them.All galleries must have both Romanized and Japanese titles; for translated works, only the Romanized title can include the scanlation group name.

Moderation Power
Moderation Power is a fundamental right for every E-Hentai user, applicable to gallery voting and upvoting/downvoting in the comments sectionCommenting on a gallery yourself will result in losing the right to upvote or downvote, deletion requests, etc. Once the votes reach 100 points, Moderation Power can achieve the aforementioned goals.
Ways to obtain Moderation Power include:
- 1 point base value
- Rewards for ranking high on the annual leaderboards.
- Valid and relevant tags added to or voted on in galleries.
- Incremental value based on account age.
- Clicks received from uploading valid gallery content.
- *HentaiVerse* game level.
- Clicks received when using the Hentai@Home client (software that uses your own computer to share the E-Hentai server load).
- Donating to E-Hentai with real money.
- Posting on the forums.
Power = Round(Base + Rewards + Tagging + Min(25, HV_Level + Donation + Account_Age + Forum_Activity + Uploads/H@H))
The maximum Power a regular user can gain solely from account age is 6. The maximum Power from HV level, donations, account age, forum activity, and uploads/H@H combined is 25. The maximum Power from adding and voting on tags is 10. The limit for downvoting comments and voting for deletion is 30 for regular users and 40 for VIPs (commonly known as admins); there is no limit for upvoting comments or other types of voting.
Renaming
Renaming allows users to modify gallery titles. Unified and formatted names greatly benefit the searching, identification, and management of galleries.Come and join those who have nothing better to do.
- Clicking "Petition to Rename" at the top right of the image area opens the renaming request interface. Select "◯ New" and enter a new name to create a renaming request, select an existing request to vote on it, or select "◯ Blank Vote" to withdraw a request.
- Each user's vote contributes a percentage equal to their Hath; reaching 100%(meaning the total Hath of the voting users reaches 100),the renaming request will take effect immediately.
- If multiple options exceed 100%, the option with the highest percentage will take effect.
- Requests with no votes (i.e., 0%) will be automatically removed.
- Renaming requests that have not taken effect 7 days after creation will be automatically removed.
- Generally, Imagesets do not need to be renamed unless it is to remove links that may be harmful to users or to remove the "AI-generated" tag when used incorrectly; the rest of the title should remain unchanged.
- Repeatedly submitting low-quality renaming requests may result in the renaming function being disabled.
Expunging
Expunging allows users to remove galleries from the default list and search results (it does not delete the gallery itself).
- Clicking "Petition to Expunge" at the top right of the image area opens the expunge request interface. Here, you can initiate requests, appeals, and vote for or against existing requests or appeals. Users initiating an expunge request must select an expunge type and provide a reason. Users initiating an appeal must also provide a reason, while those voting do not necessarily need to provide a reason but may choose to do so.
- A user's Hath determines the contribution value added or subtracted when casting a vote in favor (including initiating a request) or against. To prevent abuse, the maximum contribution value for regular users is 30, and for moderators, it is 40.
- When a request reaches 100 points and remains for 15 minutes, it will take effect; when a request reaches -100 points and remains for 15 minutes, it will be rejected. A gallery can have multiple independent expunge requests being voted on simultaneously; if one petition eventually takes effect, all other petitions for the gallery will be removed.
- Requests that have not taken effect or have been rejected for more than 7 days will be removed.
- Users with at least 2 Hath can vote on expunge and appeal requests. Users with at least 5 Hath can initiate three types of expunge requests: "Already Uploaded", "Replaced", and "Forbidden/Other". Within 7 days after an expunge takes effect, users with at least 10 Hath can initiate an appeal; after 7 days, only veto power holders (certain moderators) can initiate an appeal. Users with at least 20 Hath can initiate "Defaced" expunge requests. Users with at least 25 Hath and veto power holders can initiate further expunge requests for a gallery after its appeal has taken effect.
- Users who participated in the voting for the original deletion request cannot participate in the voting for the appeal request, except in cases where they created the request and realized it was an error.
- Reasons for deletion:
- Already Uploaded
- A link to the conflicting gallery must be provided when creating the request.
- The criteria for "Duplicate Upload" can be found in the "Do not upload duplicate content" section above.
- Replaced
- A link to the new gallery must be provided when creating the request.
- Use the "Replaced" reason to delete a gallery when a new, higher-quality version of the same gallery is available.

- Forbidden/Other
- The criteria can be found in the "Forbidden Content" section above.
- Defaced
- The content itself has identification issues due to the addition of watermarks, censorship, advertisements, or intentional compression that affects content recognition.
- Already Uploaded
- Repeatedly issuing low-quality deletion petitions and votes may lead to the disabling of deletion features or even account suspension.
Currency
E-Hentai has three types of currency: Credits, Gallery Points, and Hath. Credits and Hath can be used via the "MoogleMail" in HentaiVerse,The prototype is the Moogle Delivery from Final Fantasy.mail system to trade freely within the community. Credits and Gallery Points, as well as Credits and Hath, can all be traded with other users in the exchange.
Gallery Points (GP)
Abbreviated as "GP", it is the primary reward for E-Hentai gallery contributors. It can be used to purchase lottery tickets and download doujinshi. When downloading doujinshi, GP is used first; if insufficient, Credits are used. The value ratio between the two for downloads is 1:1. It can also be traded for Credits. Ways to obtain GP include:
- Your uploaded galleries receiving hits.
- When an uploaded gallery is downloaded as an archive, 25% of the GP spent by the downloader goes to the uploader.
- Receiving hits while running the Hentai@Home client (software that uses your own computer to share the load of E-Hentai's servers).
- Uploading torrents or galleries that already contain torrents.
- Providing suggestions to the website; the one with the most upvotes within 24 hours will be rewarded with GP.
- Exchanging Credits for GP in the exchange.
- Donating to E-Hentai with real money.
Credits (E-Hentai Points / "Gentleman Coins")
The core currency of the E-Hentai community, used to reward users for various contributions to the site, and is the primary payment method for various expenditures on the site. It can be used to post bounties, download doujinshi, and trade for other E-Hentai currencies. Ways to obtain Credits include:
- Daily login.
- Play the web-based text RPG "HentaiVerse" with an E-hentai account; treasure chests in the game can grant Credits. It is the hardest to earn among the three currencies. It can be used to unlock certain website features and upgrade items in "HentaiVerse". It can be sold at the Hath Exchange for Credits, or used as part of the bounty for tasks you post.
Ways to obtain Hath include:
- Complete bounties where others offer Hath as a reward.
- Win the monthly banner contest on the E-hentai forums.
- Receiving hits while running the Hentai@Home client (software that uses your own computer to share the load of E-Hentai's servers).
- Exchange Credits at the Hath Exchange.
- There is a chance to obtain it by exchanging artifacts at the Shrine in "HentaiVerse".

2019 Shutdown Crisis
Because E-hentai's servers were previously located in the Netherlands, and as an EU member state, the Netherlands must comply with increasingly strict EU regulations on specific elements, the server provider in the Netherlands proactively requested to terminate the contract to avoid being affected.
On July 25, 2019, due to force majeure, E-hentai administrator Maximum_Joe announced on 4chan that the site would close within 12 hours. An announcement to "start backing up everything" was posted on the E-hentai forum, removing all download restrictions to allow users to save their collections as quickly as possible, emphasizing that it was "definitely not a drill."
That afternoon, the website ceased operations. Opening the Exhentai webpage would show the 「This is the end for now」 image.

Once the news broke, netizens worldwide collaborated to back up all the data, successfully preserving up to 45TB (excluding translations) of information. Numerous posts paying tribute to Exhentai also appeared on social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook.
On August 2, 2019, EXhentai suddenly restored access, with servers moved to Moldova (a non-EU country).
