The Holy Fool, a significant figure in Ursus religious belief, is highly revered by the people. In reality, the Holy Fool itself is a creation of the Collapsals, utilizing what may come fromSami, created through a mysterious ritual that now only circulates in Ursus. In each ritual, only one person survives to become a Holy Fool. Those who become Holy Fools are granted various abilities beyond human understanding, but their minds are also destroyed, causing them to become mad and gain a vision that transcends mortals. As the core of Ursus's faith, successive Holy Fools have been honored guests of Saint Hippolyta. Meanwhile, the Ursus authorities utilized the technology of the Holy Fools to create a force born from a more cruel ritual that fuses humans with fragments of Collapsals—Super Soldier—the Emperor's Blades, also known as "The Emperor's Blade." Like the Holy Fools, the Emperor's Blades transcend mortals and have now become an extension of the national will of Ursus, no longer even obeying the Holy Fools who created them or the Emperor they were meant to serve. All Holy Fools share a common name—Gavriil. Mantra once rescued Infected from an Emperor's Blade in Ursus and caused the Collapsal fragments within the Blade to backfire, temporarily paralyzing him; thus, she was regarded as a Holy Fool by the rescued Infected. In 1096, after the parents of Biechok (Operator Leto) were executed for initiating a strike and her grandmother Madame Naga also committed suicide, the Holy Fool took the opportunity to alter Biechok's perception when her mind was most vulnerable, posing as Biechok's grandmother Madame Naga, and gained considerable prestige among the miners.
