Light Novel Arc 4 (Volumes 10~15) Plot
After learning from Frederica that Roswaal was in the Sanctuary, he headed to the Sanctuary. When passing through the barrier, Emilia's pyroxene (given by Frederica) glowed. To prevent danger, Natsuki Subaru snatched it from Emilia's hand, but was teleported to the forest. He encountered a Ryuzu clone, followed her to the Graveyard, and met Dona in the Castle of Dreams. After drinking Echidna's bodily fluids, his Witch Factor was activated. Before leaving the tea party, he established a covenant with Echidna, meaning he would forget the existence of the Witch of Greed after leaving. After leaving the Graveyard, he met Garfiel and was thrown toward the ground dragon carriage. Patrasche adjusted the carriage's angle, causing Natsuki Subaru to fly into a seat inside the cabin. Natsuki Subaru noticed Garfiel's dental features were similar to Frederica's and asked if he was related to Frederica or Roswaal, causing Garfiel to stop his attack. Upon reaching Roswaal's location, he learned information about the Sanctuary from him, then went to the Cathedral to visit the villagers. At night, he and Ryuzu saw Emilia off to challenge the Trial. Seeing the light of the Graveyard go out, he immediately rushed in, faced his own past, and successfully completed the first Trial. The checkpoint was updated, and the loops of Arc 4 began. In the first loop, Subaru returned to the mansion on the fifth day, found it empty, and was killed by the Bowel Hunter in front of Rem's room. While being thrown into the air, Subaru touched the barrier and was teleported to a dark room by the pyroxene. Upon stepping outside, Subaru found it was snowing in the Sanctuary; before he could understand what was happening, he was eaten to death by the Great Rabbit. In the fourth loop, Subaru attended the second Witches' Tea Party and told Echidna about his "Return by Death" ability (which Echidna already knew, of course). The surviving Garfiel and Ryuzu clones fought the Witch of Envy. They were all wiped out. Before Subaru was swallowed, he usedthe Echidna-enchantedhandkerchief given by Petra, which turned into a light sword, to commit suicide. In the fifth loop, Subaru used his memories of the loops to find Ryuzu's residence on the first night. He discovered Ryuzu's original body and Echidna's "immortality" plan, was recognized by Ryuzu as an "Apostle of Greed," and learned of the existence of "Shima," an individual who had separated from the many Ryuzu clones. Afterward, Subaru decided to return to the mansion alone to save the maids and Beatrice. He was stopped by Garfiel on the way, but Garfiel eventually let him go. Upon returning to the mansion, Subaru told the maids to take refuge in Arlam Village while he went to persuade Beatrice. However, she refused his invitation due to the shackles of her oath. At this time, the Bowel Hunter broke into the Forbidden Library, and the maids had already been killed in the village by the "Mabeast User" Meili. Just before being killed, Beatrice teleported Subaru back to the Sanctuary. After returning to the Sanctuary, heavy snow had already begun to fall, and Emilia was isolated, her mental state extremely unstable. Encouraged by Subaru, the devastated Emilia found the courage to face the trials. Subsequently, with the help of Otto and Ram, Subaru defeated Garfiel and won his allegiance, then returned to the mansion with Otto and Garfiel to rescue the maids and Beatrice. On the other hand, Ram, hoping to save Roswaal from his twisted obsession, joined forces with Puck (as per his promise to Subaru) to battle Roswaal. By this time, Emilia had successfully completed the trials and destroyed the Sanctuary barrier following the self-sacrifice of the individual known as Ryuzu Shima. With Emilia's assistance, Subaru and Beatrice gathered the Great Rabbit together and jointly cast the large-scale Yin magic "Al Shamak," swallowing all the rabbits into another dimension in one fell swoop.
