Character Design
After the anime aired, the prototype was considered to be the villain from the original Gridman tokusatsuTakeshi Todogender-swapped. Her yellow-lensed glasses, reclusive personality, and monster-making are clearly derived from Takeshi.
At the same time, just likeHibiki Yutathe character of the same name that appeared in the original sequel project "Dengeki Choujin Gridman F," which was cancelled while still in the planning stage. In this scrapped plan, Akane Shinjo's setting was a high school girl controlled by the Demon King after Takeshi, a point inherited by the anime.

Akane Shinjo corresponds to Rikka, giving a sense of being detached from the world, and would very easily kill classmates and others around her. Hasegawa had no resistance to writing her as such a cruel figure. On the contrary, to emphasize Akane Shinjo's side as a "symbol of the extraordinary," the anime emphasized her innocent cruelty even more than he had initially envisioned. For example, in the first episode, in the first draft of the script, Tonokawa and the others killed by the monster were actually students who looked like delinquents and bullied the amnesiac Yuta; Akane felt angry seeing this and thus drove the monster to kill them. However, after writing it, Hasegawa worried that some viewers might watch the anime and think, "Akane Shinjo is the righteous side, right?". Therefore, he revised the script to create a motive that would make everyone think, "She killed someone just for such a trivial reason?" Akane is ranked fifth in the CAST list and character list on the official website, behind Rikka.
