にじさんじ, commonly known as "Nijisanji", is a JapaneseANYCOLOR(Formerly known asいちから) Virtual YouTuber project under the company, established on February 8, 2018, and currently primarily conducts live streaming activities on websites such as YouTube and bilibili.
Introduction
にじさんじ, originally a virtual live streaming application developed by the Japanese companyいちからIchikara Inc. It utilizes the Animoji feature of the iPhone X to control virtual avatars and stream on YouTube Live or Mirrativ. The application was originally planned to be released on the App Store, but failed to meet the listing requirements. Since then, the software has been released under a limited licensing format. Besides Nijisanji,有閑喫茶あにまーれ、HoneyStrapand others have obtained application licenses and technical support.
On the other hand,いちからTo promote theにじさんじsoftware, Ichikara Inc. recruited official virtual streamers calledにじさんじ公式バーチャルライバー(NIJISANJI Official Virtual Streamers). Unexpectedly, with the popularity ofTsukino Mito, it received significant attention. Subsequently,いちからIchikara launched two more groups: NIJISANJI Gamers, which specialized in gaming, and NIJISANJI SEEDs, a "reserve" group. In less than a year, relying on the low-cost nature of Live2D models, it rapidly introduced over 60 virtual YouTubers primarily focused on live streaming to the industry, establishing the paradigm for the future virtual YouTuber industry. In December 2018, the three aforementioned groups were gradually integrated into a single entity called NIJISANJI, with no further distinction made between them.
Furthermore,いちからIchikara also established several groups for overseas audiences, such as NIJISANJI KR for the Korean market (later merged into NIJISANJI), NIJISANJI ID for the Indonesian market (later merged into NIJISANJI), NIJISANJI IN for India (now disbanded), and NIJISANJI EN for the Western market. Regarding the Chinese market, it successively commissioned the Japanese company Capsule Inc. to establish NIJISANJI Shanghai and Taipei (the licenses were later revoked and renamedVEgo), and collaborated withbilibilito establishVirtuaRealetc.
On May 17, 2021,いちからIchikara announced its rebranding to ANYCOLOR and launchedNew homepage. On June 8, 2022, ANYCOLOR successfully completed its IPO on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Growth Market, becoming the first listed company in the industry; on the same day in 2023, it moved to the Prime Market (TSE Prime 5032）。
Regarding the Chinese Name
Regarding the term "Nijisanji," the "Niji" part can be interpreted as "rainbow" in Japanese. Combined with the fact that the agency's wordmark and icon both contain rainbow-colored elements, Chinese viewers generally useNIJISANJIto refer to it, and there is also a literal translation "Hong Sanshi."
If the "rainbow" imagery is not considered, it can also be translated asErci Sanci, meaning the combination of virtual and reality. The former Shanghai and Taipei branches used this Chinese name. However, as the parent company revoked the trademark license, this name gradually became specific to these two dissolved branches and no longer refers to the entire Nijisanji.
Currently, the official name used in Chinese environments is primarily "NIJISANJI," while "Caihongshe" appears in video tags for easier searching.

Since its establishment in February 2018, NIJISANJI has launched over ten projects covering various scopes. NIJISANJI Main Branch
The current so-called "NIJISANJI Main Branch" roughly consists of three parts:

NIJISANJI Official VTubers
Original Japanese Nameにじさんじ公式バーチャルライバー, the members who first began activities, initially recruited to promote the mobile app "NIJISANJI". NIJISANJI SEEDs is a virtual YouTuber group project established by NIJISANJI on June 3, 2018, independent of NIJISANJI and NIJISANJI Gamers.
The first batch recruited a total of 13 virtual YouTubers, and the second batch of 19 members was gradually revealed starting from August 9 of the same year.

NIJISANJI NetWORK (Japanese:にじさんじネットワーク) is a VTuber agency project launched by NIJISANJI. This project operated independently from the NIJISANJI Project, providing support in areas such as management, video production, and merchandise distribution for existing independent VTubers' collaborations and business affairs. Members within the project could share some promotion and sales channels with official NIJISANJI talents. NIJISANJI Minecraft
NIJISANJI members opened a dedicated MC server, and the small server has been played in countless creative ways, with exciting stories happening every day. It initially began withHanabatake Chaika's Minecraft streams, and NIJISANJI's internal Minecraft streams became increasingly popular. In Hanabatake Chaika's server, there were even Livers who played secretly without streaming. However, triggered byDora、Ryushen、Ushiumi Ichigo、Fushimi Gakuthe frequent disconnections during a four-person collab, Dola established a dedicated server that all NIJISANJI members could use. After the dedicated server was established, the number of people who could play increased, and spontaneous in-game collaborations became possible. As a result, many chapters comparable to TV dramas began to unfold.

- The Ushiumi Great Tomb refers to the large underground structure started on the night of November 30, 2018, byUshiumi IchigoandRyushenwho began construction on the large underground building located south of the Shared House.

- The first recorded group of visitors (victims) to the Great Tomb wereShizuka RinandYuuki Chihiro[62]. Entering the madness-filled Great Tomb at 2:30 AM on December 15 left an indelible psychological scar on Chihiro.Plus, Rin was there causing trouble.。
- Next, on December 21, Chihiro and Ryushen entered the Great Tomb again during a collaboration with Ichigo; after escaping, they encountered a mysterious bug.[63]
