Because she wanted to spend her remaining time living a normal life, she initially went to school for classes instead of going directly to Jujutsu High. In 2006, her location was leaked for unknown reasons, and she was hunted by the curse user group "Q" and the Time Vessel Association. Jujutsu High dispatched_Gojo SatorutoSuguru Getoto carry out the mission of guarding Riko. While Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto were discussing the "Protect the Star Plasma Vessel" mission assigned to them by Masamichi Yaga, she was thrown out of a window by Kokun, a member of Organization Q. She was saved by a cursed spirit controlled by Suguru Geto. Afterward, Geto and Gojo wanted to send Riko to Shoko Ieiri for treatment, but Riko woke up first. Mistaking them for members of Organization Q, she slapped Gojo, struck a chuunibyou pose, and shouted, "Vile scoundrel! If thou wishest to take my life, then thou shalt be the first to die!!" She also mocked Geto for having a "deceptive face" and "weird bangs." She willfully insisted on returning to school to meet her friends, which led to her being targeted by sorcerers hunting the Star Plasma Vessel. During this time, she was targeted and attacked by several curse users, but remained safe thanks to the protection of Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto. Eventually, Gojo carried Riko out of the school. After curse users targeted her, Gojo decided to take her to Jujutsu High. Later, because Kuroi was kidnapped and Riko wanted to say goodbye to her before the merger, they went to Okinawa for a rescue mission. Kuroi was rescued on the second day, and the group spent time playing in Okinawa. Riko expressed that she really liked Okinawa's seawater and beaches, but found sea cucumbers disgusting. On the third day, after arriving at Jujutsu High, the group wasToji Fushiguroattacked. While Gojo dealt with Toji, Riko headed to the Main Hall of the Tombs of the Star Corridor along with Suguru Geto and Kuroi. After saying goodbye to Misato Kuroi, she arrived at the Main Hall of the Tombs of the Star Corridor with Suguru Geto. Geto proposed, "If Riko-chan doesn't want to merge and wants to go home with Ms. Kuroi, that's fine too." Amanai expressed that she used to think it was okay to be separated from everyone because no matter how sad it was, the grief and loneliness would eventually disappear. However, after spending time with Geto and the others, she said, "I want to stay with everyone for a little longer." Geto reached out his hand and smiled with relief, "Let's go home, Riko-chan." Afterward, without warning, she wasToji Fushiguroshot and killed with a cursed tool, her head pierced through, dying with her eyes open. Geto's promise became empty words, and Riko died. Her body was brought back to the headquarters of the Time Vessel Association. Her limbs were intact, and her black tights were undamaged, but the left sleeve of her uniform was covered in blood, and her hand remained in a reaching gesture toward Geto. Inside the Time Vessel Association, the followers cheered around Riko Amanai's corpse. The Time Vessel Association believed that the merger of the noble Lord Tengen with a Star Plasma Vessel was a disgrace, and Riko Amanai's death was exactly what they had hired Toji Fushiguro to achieve. After defeating Toji, Satoru Gojo arrived at the Time Vessel Association. Carrying Riko Amanai's body, he asked Suguru Geto if they should kill all the ordinary people present, stating, "Right now, I wouldn't feel anything even if I killed everyone." Suguru Geto saw Riko's limp, hanging hand had turned pale and blue; he ultimately told Satoru Gojo that a massacre would be meaningless and that there was no need for a purge of the followers. Riko Amanai was eventually taken back by Satoru Gojo to be buried.
