Touhou Project(Japanese:東方プロジェクト・とうほうぷろじぇくと, English:Touhou Project，Project Shrine Maiden[1]), abbreviated asTouhou, orTouhou Series, is the Japanese doujin circle "Team Shanghai Alice" (ZUN) produced a series ofdanmaku shooting gamesas its core, with derivative works including manga, novels, and more.
Its unique worldview, characters with distinct personalities, meticulously arranged geometric danmaku, and diverse music composed for each character and occasion have earned it immense popularity among fans.
Furthermore, because the developer Team Shanghai Alice (ZUN) hasderivative worksfew restrictions and relatively loose management[2]due to this, many fans have created a vast amount of derivative works for it, such as music, manga, novels, anime, illustrations, games, and MADs, forming a wide variety of derivative creation trends. Inniconicoon andTHE IDOLM@STER、VOCALOIDare collectively known as "Gosanke". As of now, the total views of Touhou Project-related creative videos on niconico have reached over 4.5 billion, ranking second only to the VOCALOID series on nico. Touhou Project-related works are also widely discussed on international video sites like YouTube, once sparking a craze.[3]
In October 2010, Touhou Project was certified by Guinness World Records as the "most prolific fan-made shooter series".[4]

PC-98 Version Games
Touhou series games on the PC-98 platform (the 1st to 5th mainline works), which belong to the period before Team Shanghai Alice was established and were released under the name "ZUN Soft".
Due to significant differences and inconsistencies in character designs and story backgrounds compared to the later Windows versions, and ZUN's expression of wanting people to forget these five old works, the player community generally refers to these five works as "Old Works", "dark historyFive Works", etc.

ZUN's Music CollectionSeries
To date, ZUN has released a total of 12 albums under the name "ZUN's Music Collection" (including 5.5 and 9.5). Each album contains rearranged versions of older tracks, especially from the PC-98 era, as well as new original tracks. Each album includes a bonus "story" written by ZUN himself. Among them,"Unknown Flower, Mesmerizing Journey"and"Rainbow-Colored Septentrion"because they only contain 3 tracks and no bonus stories, they were released as "Vol. 5.5" and "Vol. 9.5".
From the second volume,《蓮台野夜行 ～ Ghostly Field Club》onwards, ZUN usedthe Secret Sealing Clubas the album covers, and the stories written also focus on the activities of the Secret Sealing Club. ZUN's Music Collection has also become the exclusive series where the Secret Sealing Club appears.
Akyu's Untouched ScoreIs byZUNProduced, under theTeam Shanghai Alicename, a soundtrack collection consisting of 5 albums of PC-98 platform Touhou works (Old Works), including the first five works:"Highly Responsive to Prayers""Story of Eastern Wonderland"Phantasmagoria of Dim.DreamLotus Land StoryMystic Squaregame music from these titles; the albums also include unused tracks from the games, roughly equivalent to the tracks heard in the Music Room of Mystic Square.[5]。
Fighting Game OSTsRefers to the Touhou Project danmaku fighting game series'original soundtrack albums. Danmaku fighting game OST albums containTwilight Frontierrearranged fighting game tracks, and sometimes also include someZUNtracks rearranged for each fighting game. After "Shinpi Gakkushuu", ZUN invited several Touhou doujin music circles to participate in the creation.
