Kuudere, namelysilence, minimal emotional fluctuation, is a type of character personality. It is alsoACGSubculture, created by Chinese otaku inMoe Attributesin this series.
Note that Sanwu does not mean absolutely never saying a word, but rather having very few words and being taciturn.
Kuuderegirls, is a term in the ACG community, mostly used by otaku to refer to those young women who are taciturn, lack facial expressions, have hard-to-read psychology, and are internally closed off; it is now commonly understood as "Silent girl、Emotionless、Expressionless”.
It should be noted that among Japanese moe attributes, there are only "Mukuchi" (silent) and "Mu-hyoujou" (expressionless), and the attribute "Mushin" (emotionless) does not exist, so naturally "Sanwu" does not exist either. "Sanwu" was created by Chinese otaku,a moe attribute unique to China。[1]

Confucius said: "Music without sound, ritual without form, mourning without garments; these are called the Three Nothings." — *Book of Rites: Confucius at Home at Leisure* |
The new third form of loneliness among children as identified by Japanese academia: unsocialized and distant from the material world. Furthermore, they are more extreme than the form of loneliness experienced by refugees after World War II, because their lack of socialization exists not only in the present and future, but also in the past; in this sense, the "San Wu" girl is a social international role.
The earliest San Wu girl is from "Neon Genesis Evangelion》's _Rei Ayanami. She is known as the progenitor and first-generation leader of San Wu girls, and is ranked alongside those called the second and third new leaders of San Wu girls,Ruri HoshinoandYuki Nagatoranked alongside. A large number of San Wu girls appeared in later anime and manga works, but they leaned more towards being a moe attribute.
The term "San Wu girl" was originally used to describe Japanese anime and manga works, and is now widely used as a character trait in the evaluation of various film and television works. Its meaning is equivalent to "San Wu Musume."
"San Wu" refers toSilent girl、Emotionless、Expressionless。
Although the basic standards are clearly defined as being silent, emotionless, and expressionless—meaning a lack of facial expressions, only engaging in necessary dialogue, and being unable to feel her inner changes—in reality, they can be divided into several types based on the cause of the character's "San Wu" nature and whether they strictly meet the standards.
Innate San Wu: Girls who are artificial humans or other non-natural beings resulting in a San Wu state. Due to being raised in isolation or not receiving knowledge about emotions, they do not understand human feelings; they are pure San Wu girls and are the standard by which people usually identify San Wu girls.
Conditional Sanwu: Girls who once had a normal life but later closed off their hearts due to the influence of certain life experiences, causing them to stop expressing their emotions. Due to their past experiences, their "Sanwu" state is incomplete, and they exhibit more expressions than innate Sanwu girls, thus allowing for the possibility of additional moe attributes. They are usually considered "Pseudo-Sanwu" orAirhead, but some still consider them Sanwu, so there is often much disagreement regarding this type of Sanwu girl.
Sanwu Girls in the Narrow Sense: ACG characters who are silent, heartless, and expressionless.
Sanwu Girls in the Broad Sense: ACG characters who approach or partially meet the criteria of being heartless, silent, and expressionless.
sought deathSanwu Girls: ACG characters with no looks, no chest, and no beautiful legs. OrNo chest、No waist、No hipsMoe girls with flat figures.
"Sanwu" belongs toChinese-made Japanese, created by Chinese people combining the three Japanese words "無口」、「無心」、「無表情", this term does not exist in Japan (and "無心" is also used incorrectly).

"Pseudo-San-wu" / "似非三無" is used to summarize characters who appear to be San-wu on the surface but reveal rich emotions, complex motivations, or social anxiety in their deeper motivations or plot progression (see "Classification by Cause" and "Classification by Definition" below for details). Although many characters can only be considered "Pseudo-San-wu" in a strict sense, what most audiences buy into is not a complete definition of San-wu, but rather a quiet and mysterious beauty and the sense of contrast beneath that shell. Pseudo-San-wu and San-wu are similar in terms of perception and offer greater creative space, so they are actually no rarer than strict San-wu characters; this category has imperceptibly become a subset (or an intersection highly overlapping with San-wu) after the generalization of the term, and is rarely mentioned intentionally.
The charm of a "San-wu girl" does not lie in being like a cold wooden puppet, but in the tenderness, strength, and care for others that occasionally leaks out from under a cold exterior and is not easily noticed; they give off a mysterious and hazy feeling. They may seem indifferent to human emotions, but they are actually kinder than anyone else. Even more precious is their image, as untainted as ice crystals, and their soul, as clear and transparent as glass.
"They deeply understand the ways of the world. Their way of thinking is otherworldly; there is nothing worth making them afraid, startled, happy, worried, or any other thing that should cause others' expressions to change; they show almost no human desires or emotions. They have a great and strong need to absorb knowledge, and their achievements in a certain area (usually only one or two) are quite enviable. Because of this, they are further distanced from their active peers in their youth, instead giving off a strange sense of isolation. Besides excelling in books, they may also possess certain stunning physical abilities. Usually, these skills are used only once, unprecedented and unforgettable. Their thoughts are complex and their thinking is fast but not chaotic; they have high judgment and strong concentration.
They are able to remain clear-headed and calm at all times. Perhaps for the same reason, their speech always lacks intonation; listening to them feels like they are using their mind but not their heart. Once they speak, they will say very refined (extremely few words) and extremely sharp words that often wake everyone up with a single sentence. Therefore, they are always like 'sages' within a group. They possess personal principles that are difficult for outsiders to observe, as well as an inexpressible persistence."
At the same time, the process of slowly melting the "iceberg" that envelops the San-wu girl's heart, gradually changing from "San-wu" to "not San-wu," and demonstrating a powerfulGap moeis also very attractive, and can even be called the hidden "finishing move" of a "San-wu girl." For example, occasionally showing a gentle or shy expression, telling someone their inner thoughts, or showing excited emotions for the person they like, etc. This kind of contrast before and after makes people feel very moe. The first-generation leader of San-wu girls,Rei Ayanami's classic scene "The Goddess's Smile" in the series, and the third-generation leaderYuki NagatoIn "The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya>'s "Disappearance version shy Nagato" are all powerful [results] produced by this "San-wu girl not being San-wu"Gap moesuccessful examples. MostGalgameThe conquerable Kuudere characters among them are also basically based on the powerful gap moe generated after being romancedGap moeas the main selling point.
Although the Kuudere attribute generally exists as an independent moe attribute in various works, there are still some attributes that often appear together with Kuudere.
At the same time, some characters who exhibit partial characteristics of Kuudere are sometimes also regarded as Kuudere, but one should pay attention to the distinctions
However, it is worth noting that many works are keen on guiding Kuudere characters towardsShynessthe direction; on one hand, because the seemingly calm but actually rich inner world of the Kuudere attribute can link the two attributes together. Secondly, it is also because the most heart-pounding moment for a Kuudere character is the instant they let down their guard and show a smile.
Because of this, some Kuudere characters show a completely different side after being conquered (the so-calledGap moe), and this very moment can instantly kill a large number of otaku with moe.
